The DCLG (Department for Communities and Local Government) has been consulting on simplifying standards for accessible housing and incorporating them into Building Regulations. MDPAG and other organisations, including Habinteg, who promote Lifetime Homes Standards and others, are concerned that the minimum standards for accessible housing are too low including the essential toilet specifications! It will no longer be possible for local authorities to implement standards different from the proposed Building Regulations.
