The Disabled People’s Archive will have an exhibition up in the Manchester Central Library from Thursday October 4th until the end of the year.
The exhibition will be in the display cases around the ground floor, near the café and the main entrance of the library. The cases will contain items from the archive, such as newsletters/magazines, books, T-Shirts, documents and badges, and is a showcase of some the material and themes we have found in our collection.
There will also be photographs from the archive on the digital display screens, plus videos made by Disabled People’s Organisations available to watch in the Sound & Vision pods on the ground floor.
Archives+ wanted us to have this exhibition up to celebrate the hard work we have done during the project and to celebrate UK Disability History Month.
We will have information and accessible formats for a number of items on display in the exhibition on our website for visitors to access via link and QR codes.
Open days for the exhibition which include guides and chance to talk to the staff of Disabled People’s Archive are to be announced soon.
